From Omaha, With a Batman Logo in His Haircut
Ahman Rashad Green was born February 16, 1977 in Omaha, Nebraska. Long before the NFL, he was a comic book kid and a gamer. He has been a Batman superfan since childhood; at twelve he had the Batman logo cut into his hair, and his Pop Warner coaches started calling him “Batman.” The nickname stuck, and so did the love of games. His dad worked in IT, so the Green house always had video games, and father and son played everything from Tecmo Bowl to Oregon Trail together.
Nebraska: Two National Titles
At the University of Nebraska, Green rushed for 3,880 yards and 42 touchdowns from 1995 to 1997 and was part of two national championship teams (1995 and 1997). He capped his college career as MVP of the 1998 Orange Bowl and a second-team All-American. He later returned to finish his degree, earning a BA in geography from Nebraska in 2003.
The NFL: A Record That Still Stands

Drafted in the third round by the Seattle Seahawks in 1998, Green was traded to the Green Bay Packers in 2000, and that is where he became one of the most productive running backs of his era. Over twelve NFL seasons he rushed for 9,205 yards and 60 touchdowns. His 8,322 rushing yards in green and gold remain the most in Green Bay Packers history, and his 1,883 yards in 2003 are still the franchise single-season record. He was selected to four straight Pro Bowls (2001 to 2004), spent 2007 and 2008 with the Houston Texans, and returned to Green Bay in 2009 to finish his career where it flourished. In 2014 he was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame.
